Quiz Bowl Southeast Regional Championships

This year, the Southeast Education Service Center (SESC) held its first Regional Quiz Bowl Tournaments for both the High Schools and Middle Schools that the Center serves.
Both tournaments were held at the Utah State University Eastern’s Jennifer Leavitt Student Center.

On March 28th , the High School Tournament began at 10 AM. Students from Carbon, Emery and Grand districts competed in the academic competition. On March 30 th , also at 10 AM, the Regional tournament was held for the Middle Schools at USUE. Again schools from Carbon, Emery, and Grand came to the college in hopes of taking home a first place trophy.

The morning for each of the tournament started with ten rounds of fifteen questions in a Round Robin style contest. The students all competed against each other and earned points. After all the scores were tallied, teams were placed in single elimination bracket according to their earlier scores. During the afternoon, schools competed head to head with the winners moving on to the next round. Questions that were asked dealt with math, science, history, geography, language
arts and trivia.

First place in the High school division went to Grand High while Carbon High took second place, and Emery High finished in third.
